Compass Pest Management was founded by Phillip Smith, whose passion for the environment, agriculture, and helping people continues to shape everything we do.
Raised on a small family farm, Phillip learned early the importance of hard work, respect for others’ property, and doing the job right the first time. As he puts it:
“On our small family farm, Dad taught me at an early age to do things right the first time. Mom and Dad also taught my siblings and me to be respectful of people’s property and always do the right thing.”

After earning a degree in business administration and marketing, Phillip opened Compass Pest Management in Greenville, SC, in November 1995. Alongside his wife, Lisa, he set out to build a pest control company centered on exceptional customer service, honest communication, and long-term solutions.
What began as a one-person operation has grown into a company with 30+ trained professionals, offering residential and commercial pest control across Georgia and South Carolina.
